Boston Siege to Compete in the First Round of the US Open Cup in rematch at Kendall Wanderers

After a strong start in the Bay State Soccer League’s fall season (BSSL), Siege look to make splash on the national stage in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup when they travel across the Charles to take on Kendall Wanderers in a rematch of last year’s first round clash that saw a shocked Siege side fall 5-2 to the legendary BSSL club.  However, with wholesale changes in the squad, Siege are looking to make a better fight of what was a tough afternoon.

“It was not our best day,” said General Manager Luke DeDeus, who was head coach at the time of the match.  “It was a hard lesson for us to learn about the level of preparation and commitment needed from the team to succeed at that level. Definitely an experience we needed to go through to grow as a club, painful as it was. Instant success never taught anyone anything.  However I have every confidence in our squad and in [head coach] Roberto [Rodriguez,] Boris [Bozic] and the rest of the sporting staff.  The work that everyone has put in since then has put us in a much better position to play a good game against one of the strongest clubs in the area.”

The new-look Siege will take on Kendall at 2 PM on Saturday, September 22 at Danehy Park in Cambridge, MA. Details are below.
